Jeremy Ray brought home his first Wally in his Rookie season after winning the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex in Dallas on October 7, 2018.
In qualifying session #1, Ray ran a 5.84 @ 246 and a 5.82 @ 247 in qualifying round #2. In Q3, Ray ran a 5.80 @ 246 which placed Ray in the #5 qualifying position.
On RaceDay Sunday, Ray won Round 1 against Stevie Jackson with a 5.76 @ 247. Ray ran a 5.79 @ 247 and got the win light for Round 2 as Steven Whiteley has tire shake. Ray takes out the #1 Qualifier, Sidnei Frigo when he goes red on the tree giving Ray a Semifinal Round win with a 5.79 @ 247.
The Final Round victory was a crowning moment as the "Carolina Kingpin"1963 Corvette wins on a holeshot with a 5.78 @ 248. Ray gets off the line first with a 0.038 reaction time to Justin Bond's 0.054 light and 5.77 run. The margin of victory was 0.0056 seconds (approximately 2 feet).
