Jeremy Ray Takes Runner-Up in His First Career NHRA Final


Jeremy Ray and the J4 Racing Team made their seventh stop of the E3 Spark Plugs 2018 Pro Mod Tour presented by J & A Service at the Summit NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

Ray qualified in the #10 spot with a 5.86 in qualifying session 1 and a 5.81 in qualifying session 2.

Ray got his first career NHRA Pro Mod First Round victory by defeating Eric Dillard on a holeshot with a .006 reaction time. Ray ran a 5.776 to Dillard's 5.774. Ray had another great light of .022 in Round 2 and went on to defeat Mike Castellana with a 5.77 @ 248 to Castellana's 5.79. The Semifinal Round was a pedal fest between Ray and Pete Farber as Ray got back on the throttle faster to take the win light.

This was Ray's first career NHRA Final Round appearance against veteran racer Rickie Smith. Ray with the starting line advantage of .045 to Smith's .093, but Smith took the lead when the rear gear broke on the Carolina Kingpin 1963 Corvette.

The J4 Racing Team had an outstanding weekend at Norwalk. The Team will travel to Bandimere Speedway for DRAG ILLUSTRATED'S World Series of Pro Mod Race on August 10-11, 2018.
